Health Minister fires up at Commonwealth over booster rollout in aged care
Health Minister Yvette D’Ath has hit out at the federal government over the management of the COVID-19 vaccine booster program.
She said she is very concerned that there have been 107 deaths of aged care residents since the Omicron wave, and only 10 people had been boosted.
She revealed she would be writing to the Commonwealth today, seeking clarity on the rate of boosters of aged care residents.
“I am hearing from people who say they are begging managers of aged care facilities to bring people in to vaccinated their loved ones for boosters.”
Ms D’Ath said supplying PPE and staff shortages had also not been addressed.
She said there was no data released on the booster program for aged care facilities.
“We need to see that,” she said.
“Too many aged care residents are passing away, who have not been offered a booster.”
