Heads of cabbage the latest leafy green to spike in price
Expensive heads of lettuce going unpurchased will soon have company on store shelves.
The price of cabbage has doubled to $9 at markets in Sydney and it appears the costly price tags aren’t far off in Queensland.
Woolworths has listed whole green and red cabbages for a whopping $8 a head in some stores while mini savoys cost $5.90 in Coles supermarkets.
It comes just a week after KFC announced it lettuce would be swapped out for cabbage on burgers in an effort to save on costs.
