Gus Worland has issued a desperate message to “look after the people you love” in the wake of rugby league icon Paul Green’s death.

The 49-year-old was found dead at his home yesterday morning, having taken his own life.

Gotcha4Life founder Gus Worland told Sofie Formica it’s a tragic reminder for Australians to check in on their loved ones and have tough conversations.

“It’s a line in the sand moment for us – another one – to make sure we look after our village, to make sure you look after people you love the most,” he said.

“You tackle it by looking after the people you love and adore and can’t live without.

“That’s what we need to get to, Sofie, a place where we can actually talk openly with our friends about what’s actually going on.”

If you are experiencing difficulties, please contact Lifeline 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue on 1300 224 636.
