Gord Bamford reveals why latest hit was shelved ‘for quite some time’

Country music singer Gord Bamford has revealed his ‘new’ hit song spent some time in his back pocket.

The current iteration of Bamford’s Drink Along Song, released in late October, came about after a fateful tour with Tasmanian sibling duo The Wolfe Brothers.

“It’s a song I’ve had for quite some time, actually; [it’s] just kind of been sitting on a shelf,” the star told Ray Haldey.

“Actually the Wolfies [came] over here … [for] the last Calgary Stampede … and they played some shows with us.

“I was just showing them the studio that I work in, listening to some music, and that song popped up.”

Bamford admitted while he never planned on collaborating for the song, after showing The Wolfe Brothers, the next thing he knew they were recording their part.

“I’m happy to have them on it.

“It’s certainly more of an anthem-type, an upbeat song that I think we can definitely all use right now.”
