‘Glimmer of hope’: When you might be able to take a cruise

Australia is one step closer to kickstarting the cruise liner industry.
National Cabinet has discussed the resumption of cruising in Australia, leaving it up to states to decide once the ban is lifted.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says she is working with the NSW and Victorian Premiers about what COVID-19 protocols are needed for cruises to return.
Managing director of the Cruise Line International Association of Australasia, Joel Katz, said there hadn’t been any good news for a while.
“It’s also a glimmer of hope for the 18,000 Australians who rely on the cruise industry for their livelihoods, they’ve really had a devastating two years,” he told Scott Emerson.
“Although the ban was also extended today to April 17, the fact that we are now working with the states, that the premiers are coming out so positively about prospective cruise restart, is really looking like a good step forward.”
But he said many of the large cruise liners have cancelled through to the end of May.
