Gas producers urged to implement price cap as power prices soar
Nearly a month after a cap on the price of gas kicked in, many producers are yet to drop their prices.
Some contracts with suppliers are being put on hold because of the uncertainty around the policy.
The cap is a key part of Labor’s plan to limit rising power prices.
The Australian Energy Council’s Sarah McNamara told Neil Breen it’s a big and impactful reform which affects the whole gas market.
“Many retailers providing their customers with gas are based on contracts well before the price cap came into play.”
