The Prime Minister says the government is still considering whether price caps on gas are the right solution to tackling the cost of living crisis.

It’s among a range of options being looked at, which will hopefully lead to cheaper electricity for households and businesses.

Treasury is urging the government to directly intervene in the gas and coal market to lower prices.

Anthony Albanese this morning said “all sensible measures remain on the table” and confirmed he’s working closely with east coast states to address the pressures.

“We know there are medium-term solutions, an increase in supply, including an increase in supply of gas,” he said.

“But we know there are these pressures due to the global price increases that are occurring.”
