Five teens are dead and another is in hospital after a horror single-vehicle crash in Sydney’s southwest overnight.

Emergency services were called to the crash last night following reports a Nissan Utility had left the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver, an 18-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing with non-life threatening injuries.

Three female and two male passengers, all believed to be of similar age, died at the scene.

Camden police superintendent Paul Fuller said the crash was one of the worst he’d seen in his almost four decades of policing.

“We’ve located three teenage girls and two teenage boys, they’re all local kids, they all go to the local high school,” he said.

“I’ve been in the police for 38 years and it’s one of the worst accident scenes I’ve ever come across.”
