First look at new cycling destination in Brisbane’s CBD

Sofie Formica

The Brisbane River will be home to the city’s only riverside bikeway cafe.

The major cycling hub will include a workshop, shower and two-storey cafe facilities as part of the Queen’s Wharf Development.

Destination Brisbane Consortium project director Simon Crooks, says it’s a first for Brisbane.

The two-storey hub will be adjacent to the Bicentennial Bikeway.

“Six years ago we looked at what Chicago had done in terms of blending cyclists and the public, so it is a moving feast,” he told Sofie Formica.

He says it’s a mode of transport that is growing in Queensland.
