A firefighter has described the terrifying moment flames descended his truck on the NSW South Coast.

A video of the incident, which happened south of Nowra, has since gone viral on social media.

The footage shows the truck travelling in a convoy when flames suddenly come upon them and the crew are forced to hold fire blankets up to the windows.

29-year-old firefighter Ervin Blancaflor filmed the video from the back seat of the truck. He tells Natalie Peters and Erin Molan it was the scariest experience he’s had in two years of firefighting.

“All of a sudden we had the amber attack. It came out of nowhere, flames everywhere.”
