Federal election enters final stretch, angst in Coalition ranks
With just five days to go, Australians are in the final stretch of the federal election campaign.
While Scott Morrison was out spruiking his new plan to get first home buyers into the market by allowing them to dip into their superannuation, Labor hit out at the “desperate policy” saying it will only see house prices rise.
Federal politics reporter Eliza Edwards spoke to Scott Emerson from the campaign trail.
“I think at the outset Scott Morrison picked the six week time frame, because he knew he needed every single day to try and tighten the close the gap in the polls, whereas now 5 days out and that tightening hasn’t happened,” she said on 4BC Drive.
“There is still a chance that the polls aren’t properly reflecting what’s going to happen on election day, but given Labor has such a big lead, it hard to see the Coalition pass the victory and internally there is a lot of angst about what is going to happen this weekend.”
