Farming body calls for national approach to drought

Politicians are being implored to consider a national approach to dealing with drought.
As large parts of Queensland and NSW suffer through the worst drought in living memory, Australia’s peak farming body is calling for a common-sense national drought strategy to be implemented.
CEO of the National Farmers Federation Tony Mahar argues our current segmented approach, where individual states are responsible for the vast majority of action, is ineffective.
“The last thing farmers need right now is political point-scoring.
“What they need is comprehensive support from all levels of government.”
