English Premier League giants to square off in Queensland tour

Sofie Formica

Two English Premier League clubs will be touring Queensland as part of a three-match series later this year.

Aston Villa and Leeds United will play a number of games across the state in a series set to kick off in July.

The highlight match will see Aston Villa and Leeds United battle in Suncorp Stadium on July 17.

The tour will also see Brisbane Roar play Leeds on the Gold Coast and Aston Villa in Townsville.

Sports reporter and Wide World of Sports host Peter Psaltis, a self-confessed mad Liverpool fan, says fans will get right behind it.

He says he believes kick-off will be 2.30pm.

“Aston Villa against Leeds is going to be terrific on Sunday 17 July,” he told Sofie Formica.

He says the sides will be “pretty much full-strength”.

“This game will be played two weeks prior to the start of the premier league season, there will be some big names.”
