Drakes Supermarket has taken matters into their own hands to address the increase in shoplifting, utilising social media as a strategy to tackle thefts.

John-Paul Drake, Director of Drakes Supermarket, has been using an Instagram series called ‘Customer Magician,’ where customers are making items ‘disappear.’

Mr. Drake told Peter Gleeson on Drive, “Once we release the video on my Instagram page, it will be five to ten minutes, maybe a bit longer, we will have their Facebook account, where they’re living…”

“I can say we have had an 85 per cent conviction rate from people who have been in the magic shows…” Mr. Drake continued.
