Australian scientist Dr Karl Kruszelnicki has lifted the lid on what’s really in the average teabag. 

The DNA traces of up to 400 insects can be found in every teabag, he revealed in a TikTok video.

Mark Hine: “Really, they’re not doing us any harm, being in the teabag?”

Karl Kruszelnicki: “No, in fact, they’re taking us toward greater enlightenment, because there’s that big move toward shifting from meat to eating insects.

“Maybe tea-drinkers are the next ones who are more highly evolved along that pathway!

“But the other thing it shows us is the teabag is a hive of biodiversi-tea.”
