Conservative commentator Douglas Murray is due to undertake an Australian tour with Dr Cornel West throughout August.

And if Murray’s chat with Michael McLaren is any indicator, attendees are in for a treat.

At the Polarised function, the two esteemed scholars will converse on a series of politically incorrect topics typically suppressed in mainstream debate, like foreign policy and race issues.

Chief among Murray’s concerns is the stubborn refusal of  many western democracies to curtail their unsustainable immigration intakes.

“There is this question of our time really, that every developed country is going through,” he tells Michael McLaren.

“We recognise that we’re very, very lucky. Migrants want to come to us and there is a reason for that. Our societies are prosperous, they’re free, they’re democratic and they’re accountable.  But we have to work out how many we can take. We have to accept we cannot take the world, because if we do, we’ll most likely just resemble the rest of the world.”

“But this is the conundrum that nobody wants to address.”

The enfeebled nature of free speech also has Murray worried.

“This is a real striking phenomenon. It means that people are suppressing what they’re worried about in case the thought police come for them,” he says.

“I think this is one of the biggest problems we face. Because unless you voice concern, you cannot come to any conclusion other than whatever the orthodoxy happens to be at that moment. What if that orthodoxy is wrong?”
