Daniil Medvedev has spoiled Novak Djokovic’s plan to win the calendar ‘Grand Slam’. 

Medvedev has taken the US Open with straight sets over Djokovic.

The world No 1 was attempting to become the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to win all four majors in a calendar year.

“[Djokovic’s] sitting there in tears because he knows this is the moment for him,” Neil Breen said.

It’s Medvedev’s first major title.
