Ray Hadley has taken aim at NRL player George Burgess over an abhorrent eye-gouging incident.

The South Sydney forward was put on report in just the 7th minute of last night’s loss to the Wests Tigers.

Cameras clearly captured the Englishman sticking his fingers into the eye of Tigers star Robbie Farah.

And it’s not his first time either.

Burgess was suspended for four games after eye-gouging a New Zealand opponent while playing for England last year.

Ray Hadley says there’s “no room in modern day Rugby League” for the grubby act.

“In the time that I’ve been involved in Rugby League, there are two things that most people abhor.

“One is gouging and the other is biting.

“Gouging has to be wiped out of the game. You’re talking about someone’s eyesight.”

Burgess has since been charged by the Match Review Committee.

Due to his prior history, he’s been referred directly to the NRL Judiciary, with a lengthy ban expected.
