Dogs are getting stressed and anxious in the wild storms that have lashed the south-east in recent days, with veterinary clinics dealing with many displaced animals.

Dr Kimberley Truloff, from Green Cross Vets in Beenlih, says they’ve seen everything from injured wildlife to family pets that have escaped during the storms.

Cats and dogs are scanned for their micro-chipped, and they can be reunited with their owners.

“Unfortunately there are some where we are not sure where they are from, we are generally doing a bit of a triage treating them if we need to, whether they need to o to wildlife carers for further or whether we get them to the council or the RSPCA and advertise online and hope people can find their pets again,” she told Scott Emerson.

She said there were a lot of anxious, stressed animals due to the storms.

She said local Facebook groups were great for helping to track down lost pets.
