‘Disappointing, frustrating’: Three-month lag for state government to move on RATs

The Omicron wave is reportedly costing Queensland’s small businesses $180 million a day. 

New modelling from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland shows the extent of the impact of staff availability and supply chain disruptions.

CCIQ spokesperson Amanda Rohan told Neil Breen the lack of rapid antigen tests is causing problems

“Last year in November, we were calling on clarity and certainty around the use of RAT testing as the first line of defence for businesses,” she said.

“Three months on, the governments have caught up and thought ‘Geez, RAT testing is actually an efficient way to test people’, and there’s zero stock available for businesses to use.

“It is poor planning and it is very disappointing and frustrating for businesses.”
