Thousands of people across Western Australia’s Pilbara Coast have been told it’s too late to leave as severe tropical cyclone Ilsa makes landfall with record-breaking winds. 

A red alert has been issued, extending from Broome to Port Headland and inland to Marble Bar and Telfer.

9News reporter Zarisha Bradley told Luke Bradnam it’s the most powerful system to hit WA in more than a decade.
