A luxury cruise ship has docked in Norway after experiencing engine failure prompting a large scale evacuation.

Almost 500 people were airlifted by rescue helicopters after the Viking Sky Cruiseliner sent out a Mayday signal. The luxury ship lost power on Saturday and became stranded off Norway’s coast, drifting towards land.

Passengers reported being violently thrown around as furniture and other items crashed into them as huge waves pummeled the ship.

900 passengers and crew were still onboard when the ship finally pulled into port assisted by tugboats today.
