Alan Jones was joined in studio by cricketing royalty in Kevin Pietersen and Graeme Smith.

Between them, they played more than 220 Tests for England and South Africa respectively and made more than 17,000 Test runs.

During their playing days they were bitter rivals but, in retirement, the two have joined forces to fight a bigger enemy.

Pietersen and Smith feature in National Geographic documentary Save This Rhino aimed at stopping the extinction of the majestic creature.

With just 3500 rhinos left in the wild, it’s expected they could be gone by 2025.

Pieterson tells Alan Jones the situation is “so cruel and so desperate”.

“It’s horrendous and I think the brutality with which it happens is what we want to demonstrate throughout the documentary.”

Alan also asks the pair about cricket… including their own history with ball tampering.

He also questions them about another player from their era who doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

“He is the greatest cricketer that I think has ever lived,” says Pietersen.

Smith agrees, “We played a series against India once and he was matching Sachin [Tendulkar] with the bat and Zaheer Khan with the ball.”
