Queensland has recorded 16 COVID-19 related deaths and 9630 new cases.
The deaths have been aged between 50 and 90, one was under the age of 10.
Chief Health Officer Dr John Gerrard said the child had a very serious, underlying, rare-inherited condition.
Among the deaths, six were unvaccinated, two had only received one dose, five had received two doses and only two had received boosters.
Two people were aged in their 50s, five in their 70s, three in their 80s and five in their 90s .
Seven people were aged care residents.
He said the booster rate wasn’t adequate at this stage of the pandemic.
“That is disappointing.”
Currently 764 people are being treated in public hospitals across the state, including 49 people in intensive care and 23 on ventilators.
