Council issues move-on notice for Cooroy woman’s blind support pig

Gary Hardgrave

Noosa Shire Council is threatening to remove a woman’s emotional support pet after a neighbour complained.

Daphne Clarkson, who suffers from sensory issues and anxiety, has a blind support pig named Lenny at her house.

But the council has ruled he can’t stay at her Cooroy half-acre property due to laws around keeping pigs in urban areas.

Ms Clarkson told Neil Breen while Lenny isn’t officially a support animal, she’s seeking certification from a psychologist and psychiatrist.

“But I have got a letter from the doctor stating that’s her wish to have him granted as my support animal.”

She said Noosa Shire Council has been reasonably understanding of her situation.

“They are considering my situation but it’s now been two weeks and I still don’t have an answer.

“I still have to have him off of the property by the 11th.”
