Artificial intelligence is helping diagnose concussion in sports players.

The issue continues to plague several sporting codes, including the AFL where former players have launched a class action seeking compensation for damages caused by concussion.

Neuroflex Executive Director Grenville Thynne has told Bill McDonald the technology acts as a second opinion for club doctors.

The eye-tracking technology looks at “the movement of your eyes in conjunction with the movement of your head and neck”, which helps determine if players can go back into contact, Dr Thynne said.

Dr Thynne who works closely with the Dolphins, managing concussion issues as well as other teams in soccer, world rugby, horse racing, the AFL, and the NFL, said Neuroflex respects and works with club protocols, rather than overrides them.
