Comm Games CEO explains politically correct volunteer guide

Article image for Comm Games CEO explains politically correct volunteer guide

Gold Coast Commonwealth Games CEO Mark Peters has spoken out about a volunteers’ guide being slammed as political correctness gone insane.

The Games Shapers handbook, which has been handed to 15,000 volunteers, instructs workers to avoid phrases like “ladies and gentlemen” and “boys and girls”.

It also includes instructions to use the term parents instead of mother or father and partners, rather than husbands or girlfriends.

The gender-neutral guidelines have been widely lambasted, so Mr Peters joined Steve Price to explain the situation.
