Rouse Hill butcher Tom Brown really empathised with the plight of our drought-ravaged farmers.

Not willing to sit back and watch the devastation unfold unopposed, Tom jumped on board with the City Slickers Appeal, a 100% not-for-profit organisation working to give aid to our farmers.

“With City Slickers, we went out to Murrurundi last weekend. We got altogether and raised money and had lots of hay and produce and delivered it to the farmers door,” he tells Luke Grant.

“They were most surprised.”

“It’s overwhelming. You think it’s bad when you’re in Sydney. But when you see it yourself, it must be hard to deal with day in, day out.”

City Slickers will be making more trips to regional towns doing it tough, delivering an array of items like bales of hay, groceries, water carters and personal hygiene products to ease the drought burden.

He’s imploring others to follow his lead.

“Give us a hand,” Tom says.

“That’s what it’s all about, give these farmers a hand directly, face to face.”
