Coalition won’t budge on coal as chance of hung parliament grows

The Coalition is adamant it won’t cut Australia’s coal and gas industry if it retains power at the federal election.
The prospect of a hung parliament is becoming likely with the latest Newspoll showing both major parties have lost support.
The primary vote for Labor and the Coalition is currently in the mid 30s, which means they’d need to a heavy reliance to win seats.
Energy Minister Angus Taylor is tipping Labor would cave on energy policies if forced to form an alliance with the Greens.
Neil Breen: “But you might have to do a teal with one of these teal candidates yourself in blue ribbon seats like Wentworth and Kooyong.”
Angus Taylor: “We have been very clear on our policies in this area.
“We will not be cutting off those major projects in order to reduce our emissions.”
