Chris Smith has responded to a front page news story about his future at Macquarie Radio.

News Corp papers have claimed the broadcaster will be “axed” from his number one rating Afternoons show.

Chris addressed the speculation at the beginning of his program on Wednesday.

“Now, I was a bit surprised today to pick up a copy of The Daily Telegraph and see my own ugly face staring back at me.

“It’s a pretty long article, and it’s got its fair share of assumptions and inaccuracies.

“What I can tell you though, is that I am in discussion with management at the moment about my future and I really do hope to have some good news soon.

“But in the meantime, it is just business as usual.”

Chris also went on to thank his loyal listeners after receiving hundreds of messages of support and love.
