Choirboys’ Mark Gable opens up on final call with drummer Lindsay Tebbutt

Carla Bignasca

Choirboys frontman Mark Gable has opened up about the last time he spoke with late drummer Lindsay Tebbutt.

Tebbutt died from a rare cancer late last year after a months-long battle.

Gable told Sofie Formica the band hasn’t been the same ever since losing one of its founding members.

“I was at the airport in Sydney and we made some sort of communal, common joke and I remembered that Lindsay would’ve retorted the same way,” he said. “It’s just that emptiness that goes with that.

“He and I – Lindsay and I laughed about it when he was passing, when we made our last phone call, we were in stitches about him dying.

“I know that’s weird but it is rock and roll.”
