Child killed in horror house fire overnight in Brisbane’s north

Gary Hardgrave

A six-year-old has died after a fire tore through a Clayfield home overnight.

It’s understood a family was sleeping inside at the time the fire broke out and all but one made it to safety.

The flames erupted around 4am this morning, sending flames and smoke billowing into the night sky.

Neighbours say they woke to the sound of explosions.

Today reporter Jess Millward told Neil Breen the boy was just six years old.

“They simply didn’t stand a chance because their bedroom was at the back of the property, where this fire is believed to have started.”
