Chief Health Officer hints at lifting of restrictions, as Omicron wave lessens

Queensland’s COVID-19 restrictions are under review, including the indoor mask mandate, as the state rides out the Omicron wave.
Of today’s cases, around 1500 were school aged children, but the majority of them have mild symptoms.
The state recorded 5,286 cases and 10 deaths in the past 24 hours.
As the Omicron wave comes to an end, Chief Health Officer Dr John Gerrard says they’re considering lifting some rules, including the mask mandate, although it could be brought back amid another outbreak.
“We’ve always said we’d have a look at these measures at the end of this month … towards the end of this month we will be looking at them, and then we will make a call and see what other states are doing as well.”
He said they will be looking at other states in their review.
