Changes to Queensland’s isolation rules after COVID-19 infection

Scott Emerson

People who have recovered from COVID-19 won’t need to get tested again within 12 weeks, if symptoms re-emerge under new changes by Queensland Health.

It also means they won’t need to go back into isolation.

They still have to wear a mask indoors or if they can’t socially distance outdoors, and they’re not considered a close contact if someone in their house later gets infected.

Professor Nigel McMillan, an infectious diseases and immunology expert at Griffith University, says it’s a sensible approach.

“It aligns us with the other states though, I think this is more of a national approach and we were a bit out of step there,” he said on 4BC Drive.

“I think it’s a sensible and pragmatic way to deal with it.”
