Changes to quarantine rules brought forward in Queensland

4BC News

Queensland’s quarantine rules for close contacts of COVID-19 cases will be eased from tomorrow.

Fully vaccinated people who are identified as close contacts will be required to quarantine for just seven days, providing they test negative.

This timeframe is a reduction from the previously-required 14-day quarantine.

Close contacts will still need to wear a mask outside the home for a further seven days after the end of their quarantine period.

It comes after the state recorded 86 new cases in the last 24-hour period.

Chief Health Officer John Gerrard says with the state’s cases doubling every 48 hours, thousands of infections are expected by January.
