UPDATE

Members of the men-only Tattersall’s Club in Brisbane have voted to allow women to join for the first time.

A well known men-only club will vote today on whether they’ll allow women to join.

Brisbane’s Tattersall’s Club has only been for men over its 153-year history.

But that could all change tonight.

Members will vote on whether to ditch the males-only status and include women.

The proposal has been considered twice in the last 12 years, with members voting the idea down both times.

“Is it a problem having a men-only club? Is it a problem having a women-only facility? I don’t think it is,” says Michael McLaren.

News Corp Columnist Peter Gleeson tells Michael McLaren he thinks tradition will prevail.
