Cancer patients to receive new cannabis-based medicine in pain management trial
A pharmaceutical company has made its first successful shipment of cannabis-based medicine, NanaBis.
The drug will be used for advanced cancer pain at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney as part of a clinical trial.
Medlab CEO Sean Hall tells Ross Greenwood it’s “more than plausible”.
He says he’s hoping to provide an alternative to opioid use.
The trial holds a special significance for Mr Hall who lost his brother 10 years ago to cancer.
“One of the things I couldn’t fathom was the amount of pain he was going through.”
When establishing Medlab he made it clear one of the key focuses would be to developed a therapy for pain management.
