The Health Minister is under fire over her response to the case of a mother struggling to have her daughter seen by a neurology specialist.

Mark Levy yesterday spoke with Anna Dean, who is convinced her daughter, Rose, is suffering from a condition far more severe than her autism diagnosis.

Referrals to specialists who may be able to help Rose at the Queensland Children’s Hospital have been repeatedly knocked back.

It’s left Anna in a state of desperation to find treatment for her tormented daughter.

After numerous attempts, Mark’s team was able to make contact with the Health Minister’s office to be told Yvette D’Ath is on the road for four days and is therefore unable to provide a response.

“Can you believe this?” Mark said. “That’s what you’re dealing with in Queensland, folks.

“Nothing changes, nothing gets fixed.”

Shadow health minister Ros Bates told Mark the response from Ms D’Ath’s office is “appalling”.

“This government has a media spin unit larger than any emergency ward at any hospital and yet they can’t provide a response to this family,” she said.

“It’s not good enough to say that she’s not available because she’s in Mount Isa and she’s travelling.

“There are phones in Mount Isa, she could’ve gone on your program this morning and spoken to you.”
