Calling all nonnas! Brisbane restaurants’ out of the box recruitment drive
A Brisbane restaurant chain has put the call out for Italian nonnas to fill their job shortage.
Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers is urging any local nonnas with at least 10 years of gnocchi-making experience to step up to the hotplate.
It comes after owners Ben Cleary-Corradini and Theo Roduner struggled to secure staff due to a lack of international arrivals.
Now, they’ve decided to move their search for a cook to an entirely different demographic.
Mr Cleary-Corradini told Sofie Formica it’s not your average kitchen gig.
“I don’t want people to think we’re going to put them through the grinder for 12-hour shifts,” he said.
“This person is really the person that we go to for a mentorship, a bit of guidance.
“It’s an honorary cooking role to assist us and to teach the young people in our teams what old-school cooking is about, what old-school work ethics is about.”
