Amid the heartache of loneliness in lockdown, Afternoons with Deborah Knight listeners have rallied together to show a fellow listener some love.

During Deborah Knight’s ‘Tea Time’ segment, Kay called in urging everyone to stay in touch with their loved ones, having been “abandoned” by her family to celebrate her birthday alone.

“It’s awful to be forgotten on your birthday.”

Having heard Kay’s heart-tugging story, a number of listeners called in offering everything from their warmest wishes, to cakes and flowers.

Listener Rhonda called in to empathise; “I know exactly how she feels”.
