Brisbane’s private hospital nurses rally for improved patient and staff ratios

4bc news

Nurses from private hospitals in Brisbane have called for fair pay and safer nurse and patient ratios at a rally.

As the state grapples with a third COVID-19 wave, data has revealed there are more than 100 patients with the virus in private hospitals in Queensland.

The Queensland Nurses and Midwives’ Union says members voted to rally as protracted negotiations fail to result in an acceptable offer.

Nurses yesterday gathered outside Greenslopes Private Hospital on Newdegate Street, where there are currently no minimum ratios, in line with other Ramsay Health Care-owned centres.

There will be another rally held next week in Tugun for John Flynn and Pindara Private Hospital members.
