Brisbane man accused of soliciting intimate photos of over 350 women

A 31 year-old Geebung man has been charged with hacking and extortion offences after allegedly victimising more than 350 young women across the country.
Police allege the man conned the women by impersonating a friend who needed help restoring a social media account. Convincing them to hand over a verification code, he gained control of the victim’s account in an attempt to access the victims’ intimate photos.
He is accused of then soliciting more pictures and videos by blackmailing the young women.
“It was a complex investigation,” says Detective Inspector Vince Byrnes.
“It involves the seizing of particular electronic devices and the identification of offending across Australia. We have a number of victims from New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.”
