Queensland has recorded two new cases of COVID-19.

One is a fully vaccinated Uber driver in his 50s who lives at Carrara on the Gold Coast, and it is unclear how he got the virus.

“We need to contact trace people who were in his Uber,” Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said.

She warned of possible further restrictions on the Gold Coast.

“If we see more unlinked cases of community transmissions on the Gold Coast in the next 24-48 hours, we may have to put in place some further restrictions.”

He has been taken to hospital, and Dr Peter Aitken said he had “done all the right things” but it was possible he was in the community for 3 days while infectious.

Ms Palaszczuk said there were now two unlinked cases on the Gold Coast, and urged people to wear masks where they couldn’t social distance.

The second case is a teen in Beaudesert, a close contact from the Moree cluster.

There have been over 8000 tests in the past 24 hours.

Queensland Health did 17,324 vaccinations yesterday in what was described as “tremendous” news.

Yesterday on 4BC Drive, caller Steve said his daughter’s boyfriend was contacted by Queensland Health after a trip to the Gold Coast on the weekend.

He was told the driver of the Uber vehicle he was a passenger in, has since tested positive.
