Former Test cricketer Michael Slater has been arrested and charged over an alleged domestic violence incident.

Officers attached to the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command commenced an investigation yesterday after receiving reports of a domestic violence incident alleged to have occurred on Tuesday, October 12.

Following inquiries, detectives attended a home at Manly around 9.20am today and spoke with the 51-year-old.

He was arrested, taken to Manly Police Station and has now been charged with using a carriage service to menace, harass, offend, and stalk/intimidate with the intent of creating a fear of physical harm.

Slater was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Waverley Local Court on November 11.

It come just weeks after he was reportedly axed from the Seven Network’s cricket coverage team over a Twitter tirade criticising the Prime Minister.

Slater played in 74 Test matches and 42 One Day Internationals for Australia before retiring in 2001.
