In a bombshell development in the Lidia Thorpe-David Van alleged sexual assault incident, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has kicked Senator Van out of the Liberal Party Room after being made aware of multiple other allegations.

Senator Van’s sacking comes after Senator Thorpe initially retracted her allegation of sexual assault in the Senate overnight, but then doubled down on the allegations against Senator Van during her address to the Upper House today.

Neil Breen said on Brisbane Live that it means Senator Van is “temporarily or maybe forever no longer a member of the Liberal party. He’ll stay as a Senator…. but he won’t be taking part in strategy decisions”.

Senator Van has denied the allegations.
