Barnaby Joyce’s ‘error’ sparks changes to ministerial code of conduct
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has made changes to the ministerial code of conduct following Barnaby Joyce’s “error of judgement”.
This afternoon Mr Turnbull says the Deputy Prime Minister has made a “shocking error” and changes to ministerial standards will be made.
“Barnaby knows he made that shocking error of judgement. He knows he let down his wife and daughters and he has apologised for that.
“And there’s been a lot of discussion about the ministerial code of conduct.
“The truth is that it is deficient. It’s truly deficient.
“Ministers, regardless of whether they are married or single, must not engage in sexual relations with their staff.
“Today in 2018, it is not acceptable for a minister to have a sexual relationship with someone who works for them.”
