Do you remember the last time you went to the video store?

There’s still a few hanging around but numbers are dwindling fast.

Sadly, Australia’s oldest surviving video store is selling off its stock and is about to close its doors for good.

Michelle Mayne has been managing the Blockbuster on Queensland’s Palm Beach for the last 30 of its 35 years.

“Kids have written saying how much they’ve enjoyed the video shop.

“Last week we joined up 23 new members so we certainly were still getting people in but not quite enough to cover the bills.”

Streaming services have seen the end of in-store rental shops but Michelle says customers aren’t thrilled with online platforms.

“People are telling us it’s not that great. You can’t get everything.”
