A longstanding mystery in Australian maritime history is on the brink of being solved. 

DNA testing has uncovered the identity of The Unknown Sailor – the only body recovered from the cruiser HMAS Sydney after it sunk with its crew in World War II.

All 645 crew aboard the Australian warship died.
