Aussies change spending habits as cost of living pressures continue

Carla Bignasca

The rising cost of living has drastically changed the spending habits of Australians, a new survey shows.

A survey of more than 1000 adults, conducted by The Trade Desk and YouGov, indicates eight in ten people have recently changed the way they shop.

The Trade Desk Director Chi Lo told Sofie Formica the tightening of purses has been seen across the board.

“The survey reported that 66 per cent of people are just making less purchases in general,” he said.

“That includes 50 per cent purchasing items only when they’re on sale.”

He said the changed habits could have a flow-on effect for retail businesses and marketing firms.

“We’re not sure how long this uncertainty will go on.”
