Aussie sport stars to converge at South Bank to mark Olympic milestone

Australia’s Olympians and Paralympians will descend on South Bank tomorrow for a community sports day marking 10 years until the Brisbane 2032 Games.
From midday until 4pm, all event-goers are invited to participate in a ‘Have a Go’ session featuring an array of Olympic sports or watch sporting demonstrations from their favourite athletes.
Olympic gold medallist and former competitive swimmer Bronte Barratt told Laurel, Gary & Mark there will be around 20 athletes on hand to give tips to aspiring youngsters.
“In 10 years’ time, you could be competing in a home Olympics in Brisbane,” she said.
“If there’s a will, there’s a way and there’s no reason anyone can’t put their mind to something and become an Olympian if that’s what they really, really want to do.
“Having a home Olympics to aim for is just the best incentive ever!”
Of course, with the chilly weather, Barratt is doubting one category will be on the cards.
“I don’t know if swimming will be one of the sports on offer but I’m sure there will be lots of other fun things to try!”
If you’re planning to head along, just don’t forget to wear your finest green and gold attire to get into the Aussie spirit!
